Band

Minter Bridge is very pleased to offer a band program to all 5th and 6th grade students. 

5th and 6th grade students practice 1-2 times per week with our Music and Band Teacher, Mr. Kinman.

Students get to choose their instrument to play in band. Choices include flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, and drums/mallets. One tuba is available for a 6^th grade student on an audition-only basis.

Students can rent their instrument from one of the local music stores, such as MIR Music, Beaverton Music, or Beacock Music. Students also need to purchase the band book for their specific instrument, “Habits of a Successful Beginner Band Musician.” An instrument rental night will also be hosted in September by Hillsboro High School with local music stores present so families can get their instruments and supplies there prior to the start of band.

Minter Bridge and the Hillsboro School District also has a collection of instruments to loan out to students who cannot afford to rent an instrument. The supply is limited and is geared toward families who are in need of assistance. Interested parents should speak to Mr. Kinman about this option.
